Dirty clothes in Craigslist pics

    Has anyone else noticed that the photos in the CL Musical Instruments category often includes dirty clothes or laundry?

    The phenomenon seems most common in the musical instruments category (and chiefly in guitar ads), though I seldom look at other CL categories. It almost strikes me as a tradition LOL, but makes sense because guitars and amps are so often relegated to bedrooms and basements, where the dirty clothes are also found. Also, most people aren't great photographers.

    Maybe one in fifty CL music gear pics have dirty clothes, but they stand out once you notice them. I like to peruse the CL musical offerings in other cities around the country—an interesting and GAS-inducing pastime—and just out of amusement I started saving some examples.

    Here's a basic example, with dirty clothes forming a central part of the composition:

    In this one, I love the dirty clothes strewn around next to the empty cothes basket:

    One sees a lot of black t-shirts in the ads for shredder guitars and big amp stacks (not sure I'd want to pick up this guitar):

    Some just do not have a clean space to take the pic and they do not know how to clean/tidy the place.
    Seen the same thing at TDPRI.

    I hope I don't sound like I'm picking on the sellers or being too critical! :oops: I just found it amusing, especially the few over-the top ones where the eye is drawn more to the clothes than the instrument.o_O

    As the worlds worst guitar photographer I sympathize with the struggles of these folks to frame a good photo.

    Looks like musicians pretty much don't make their beds.

    I have posted some pics of my music room and renovated kitchen and people remark on how clean and tidy things are. I have news for them, things aren't always so, but if the pic is going on the web, it's not going to include dirty dishes, clothes or feet.

    I find these hilarious.

    I used to sell a few things on ebay. What worked best for me was to find the same item, charge a little more for mine and just take a better picture. It wasn't hard.

    Everyone else's grunge looks worse than our own.
    I was amused by the first 6-8 pics then I begin to glance guiltily around my own rooms.

    I have trouble finding an empty wall to use as a backdrop for my gear pics, but jeez... Laundry, unmade beds... I can't stand living like that, let alone photographing it. Feet, too...

    I see it frequently on TDPRI, and Reverb. I avoid CL like the pox.

    Try a door- by their very nature, doors are always clear of obstruction.

    And feet in dirty flip-flops are the WORST.

    I've noticed the phenomena too. I have a hunch that these are single guys. Once they get married, they will be trained to pick up their laundry.:rolleyes::lol:

    Those photos are mostly taken after mom has laid down the law and told junior to sell that danged noise maker and while you're at it, put your dirty clothes in this basket so I can do some laundry!
