Jump to 11:00 min. if you want to skip the talkin' and get to rockin'. For the totally impatient... first typically awesome J. solo at 14:20.

Yeah I do too, they are awesome. I've been going to my local shop and playing a Squier J. Mascis Jazzmaster and really digging it. I've always wanted a Jazzmaster and may have to break down at buy that thing soon. The neck is just awesome on it!

I wanted to use the last verse of Freak Scene in my wedding vows. After hearing it my wife wasn't too keen on the idea, so it was a no go.

I'm a big fan of Dinosaur Jr...and J Mascis is one of the reasons why I got my first Jazzmaster back in 1996 and more recently I got his Squier Jazzmaster which I have to say is very very good value for money...a top quality guitar all round.

Saw them on Thursday in Detroit. The loudest guitar I've ever heard. Three Marshall stacks and a fender twin aimed at his head! In a building that probably holds 800. Insanity. Lou Barlow tips the hell out of the bass, great unique technique.

Glad to hear they rocked! I really should go see them again. I haven't seen them live since Lollapalooza 1993. Who can remember any Lollas?

Great, great stuff. Thanks for posting that video. I'm guessing Lou's technique is a product of playing so many chords on the bass, which is pretty unique.

J's fuzz tone is my holy grail. If you never heard of the J. Mascis Fuzz Munckin, head over to youtube and search it out. It's a pretty solid, unique fuzz that NAILS J's sound. Of course, the last one I saw on ebay sold for almost $1,000...WOW! Right now, my Dano CC Fuzz works well; it don't nail his tone but it's a passable fuzz.

    I think I'll keep her.
She named two of our cats Maynard and Henry, after Maynard James Keenan and Henry Rollins.
She just had a problem dropping the F-bomb in our vows.

    J Mascis Esquire

J is better known for the Jazzmaster, but in searching vids I see lots of teles. I read he has a 57 Esquire and a 58 tele. The Esquire has a neck pickup, and the 58 has been Esquired! Both are, of course, refinned in sparkle.

Squire should do a J Mascis sig Esquire!

Hmmm. I guess the 58 would be my choice, because I can't hang with blue sparkles~!

Yeah I saw them last year and they were LOUD, and I mean LOUD. I was stood right at the front in front of J and his rig, and I think it was the loudest thing I've ever heard. I had to stick tissue in my ears it was THAT LOUD!!!!
Was a great show too :)

I went earlier this month, I was in front of Lou, and it wasn't that loud, but I'm sure the guitar would have been louder if I was in front of J
