Have an old tele cut for a humbucker long time ago but the pickup blew-out so need a new one. At the same time I have to make a wiring harness as the old tone, volume controls and switch are finished.

Am using an Area T noiseless bridge p/u, not the hot version. Ordered an Eric Johnson HB, picking it up later today, Dimarzio e-mailed back that they would balance well together. Already have a Country Gent but have no problem getting a bit Gretschy with the tele neck.

So am proceeding with it - Anybody here do this yet ?

I've thought about it...they're modeled after filtertrons supposedly. Report back. I've been really getting into chet Atkins and these pickups interest me.

Oddly enough, EJ & Dimarzio don't stike me as synonymous.
Yeah, it seem strange, but most of his older recordings on his vintage Strat ('54 I believe) were using a Dimarzio HS-2 in the bridge position (which he uses a lot). Hard to believe that classic EJ tones on vintage Strats were actually using a Dimarzio pickup.

Indeed he did use a HS2 in the bridge of Virginia, his '54 strat. But he wired that stacked humbucker for single coil sound. I copied this, and it works very well.

Guess I'll proceed with it and see where it goes. Every humbucker so far has overpowered the bridge.

I put it on a SG I had in the neck position and it was great. Made the guitar much more versatile.
