Nice color. Really pretty guitar. Can't wait to hear it.
Thanks guys...that means quite a lot.
Well, tonight I went ahead and made the rear control cover. I really wanted to make one out of doug fir like the body then paint and clear it...but there's just no time for it and the can of duplicolor is all but empty.
Instead I used some pickguard scrap, marked it with my template and went to the ROSS to get it close to the line
Then routed it double side taped to the template and did some more ROSS sanding to make it fit with all the clear built up.
I measured and marked holes and countersunk them
I did some cleaning up of the wet sanding mess and did a little more hand polishing...of course I had to play it for a while too. I'll have to get the final glamour shots outside in the sun as the weather allows, but in the mean time I'll have to record the video I suppose and try not to look like a total hack.
Thanks to everyone that's been following along...now I'll have a little more time to check in on everyone else's builds.
I first read that as dog fur and had an involuntary eyebrow elevation Can't wait for the final shots.
Can't wait to here this one
Ah ........ I do love me that Burnt Copper.
Me too Jack!
This is seriously AWESOME!
I like the choice of knobs and how well they go with the filtertron. Beautiful guitar Mr. Bone.
Great skills, Dilbone!
Thanks guys, I'm sure glad it's done...1 so I can be done working on it...2 so I can play the heck out of it. It ended up being 6lb 6oz, plenty light but heavier than I'd have thought for a double f hole thinline.
Here are the glam shots...
and here it is with it's cousin from the 2011 build challenge...I love me some wraparound bridge-single pickup guitars...
That turned out great! Awesome pics!!!
Wow! Nice lookin' axe...
Great job. Simple, clean, and very well executed. Can't wait to hear it.
Tidy work. Very nice axe.
That is superb. I'm torn between this years and last years. They are both so cool. You really nailed your finish on this years, I can't see any issues, it's beautiful.
Thanks again guys, it means a lot to have so many kind words shared
Here's the video...Kinda lame, but you get the idea.
Absolutely too darn cool! , such a sweet build Chris
Chris that is such a sweeeet looking and sounding guitar! You really did some fine craftsmanship there. Congrats!
It's hard to believe it used to be a 4x4! Great playing you and the guitar sound good.
