Hot off my workbench is a guitar that I first conceived of about a year ago... The core components were: pine body, amber finish (I like a tinted shellac base for this), pickups mounted to the body (as on a lap steel), some sort of leather guard (rather than your basic Bakelite), and of course the pretty cowgirl! Pretty happy how it turned out!

The body is Ponderosa pine, and came from a two-person operation in Georgia called Aperio Guitar. Nice people, and nice pine! I tinted the body with a few coats of amber shellac (a mix of super blonde and garnet), then finished it with several coats of clear gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. Neck is an Allparts TMO-V also finished with lacquer.

Pickups are a set of Wildes that Bill et al. wound back in 2006. L-280TN at the neck, L-290TL at the bridge. Big sound and clear as a bell! Homemade half Fender bridge, Glendale saddles, and a cool alligator leather guard from Luther Designs!

Ain't she purty?! (Sure hope she doesn't get a splinter! ;))

    Thanks for lookin'!

Yes. Made that with my office printer on waterslide decal paper. It's buried under the lacquer.

    Very nice.

I love those old "cowgirl" pinups paintings. There is a website with lots of them. OwensValley something or other. Google and you will find it.

That guard looks great. Is that genuine alligator? Or stamped leather? In either case, awesome. Probably the first leather guard that I like.
