Here's an example. These are obviously one and the same except for a change of costume. Sheesh, this is worse than stealing music! It's got to stop!

Same company, I think. Same artist(s)?

I spent a lot of money on Richie and Casper when I was a kid. Little did I know that I was contributing to a shady industry that worked poor cartoon characters like beasts of burden holding down two, and who only knows how many other jobs.

I remember reading all three of their comics. By the way, was I the only one who realized Little Lotta was actually an oxymoron?

I can’t believe you and I financially supported the shady industry that taught us rich kids could have all the girlfriends they wanted.

I remember hearing once that Casper was the ghost of Richie Rich, that might explain it.

At least some of the cartoons were educational.

It doesn’t matter that she had zits or was unintelligent any more than the fact that she was large! She had cartoon feelings too!

    EDIT:
I apologize after being informed that “oxymoron” is not referring to a stupid person that has to use Oxy pimple medicine.

Unless you juxtapose both characters and think that Richie Rich became Casper when he was killed for his money. ;-)

You're getting into the gray zone here with this provocative discussion about the mistreatment of helpless cartoon characters under the thumb of their ruthless, profiteering writers. I hope this thread doesn't get locked. :D

But some cartoon characters stood up for their rights ... especially the erudite, intellectual ones like Wonder Warthog.

Beat me to the punchline. I was going to say they're the same person in different stages of... development.

lots of blackballed writers went to work in the cartoon business. Rocky and Bullwinkle were pretty subversive!

and of course Fritz the Cat....

My dad hung out at a watering hole in Corona del Mar, Newport Beach, California, and Virgil Partch was one of the gang, a nationally recognized cartoonist. He told my dad to tell me NOT to get into the cartoon business. This, in my estimation, was the WORST parental advice my father ever gave me.

The backstory to the above advice was that it seems Mr. Parch somehow got addicted to drawing cartoons and could never stop, per his daughter!

I loved his work, very quirky, and anytime Big George was in the Sunday's comics I made a point to read them for the art and the gags.

    Thanks for yuks, Vip!
