did john fogerty use pedals?

    if yes, what kind of pedal can i use to get this nasty, crunchy tone



    i have a g&l bluesboy semi-hollow and am playing through a silverface twin (no master volume)

    I don't know if he used pedals (and would also be interested in knowing), but I do know he used Kustom amps. You can see his stack about halfway through the video.
    I think a lot of the crunchiness of the rhythm sound on the video has to do with the low end distorting whatever microphone was used to record the performance.

    I see his rick plugged in directly - back then, I guess loud gigs did not need no overdirve.....

    Some of those Kool Kustoms had alot of extras built in. being solid state, they had the extra space.
    The distortion circuit was called the Harmonic Clipper and they also had Tremolo, Vibrato and Reverb. I think he used all of it and controlled it from the foot switch. Still pretty affordable on the vintage market.
    Nowadays Fogarty uses Fender amps mostly it seems.

    always assumed that it was a dimed Kustom

    John Did use a Fender Vibroux Reverb starting with Green River Album by the time he did Cosmo's Factory he switch the Fender Concert cause the Vibroux develop a chirp in the tremolo.
