Seems like I recall a Fender-branded telefied—Strat that had no forearm or belly cuts, maybe even with a smaller edge radius... am I still asleep and dreaming this?

Aerodyne Strat. Has back contours but single bound front.

I have wanted a Strat without contours for many years!

Teles feel better because they hang straight in front of me. If I could just get a Strat without all the contours, I'd be in heaven!

Same here - I find the Tele body much more comfortable; that's why I built a "Strelecaster": Tele body, but Strat pickups, pickguard, and trem...

Many years ago, like 30-40 Strings & Things in Memphis (later St.Blues) made a few, too.

Appears Fender Japan made a double bound "thinline" strat without contours:

That might be what I am thinking of, though I do not recall the binding.

The current Parallel Universe II Uptown Strat is a slab body, but not much about that is a Strat!

of course around ‘79 they had a very subtle forearm cut and only a shallow belly cut. The radius was more than a Tele but less than Strats of any other era.

Tom Verlaine of Television has used a custom Strat-style guitar with an old Jazzmaster neck on it for years...

That's an INTERESTING guitar... but definitely not what I am thinking about (too recent). That whole line is pretty interesting.

MIJ Squier Bullets from the 80's had no belly cut or forearm contours. Also, were slightly smaller (25%?) With a Tele neck. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

Interesting! That COULD be it—it fits my mental timeline—though I thought it had smaller edge radii... but that could be time distorting my memory (wouldn't be the first time).

This was my first decent electric guitar. It cost my aunt Karen a lot of money I think, but I got it for cheap when my cousin Jim gave up on trying to learn pretty much immediately

I made a few of those but it just didn't sound like a Strat anymore! Crazy, right?

    The quest continues!

I put together a couple bound strat body partscasters. I really like that look. Yhr d[slted one does have a forearm contour (which I guess they call a drop-top).

Because of the binding that sunburst almost reminds me of my fireglo Rickenbacker. THAT is sharp!

I wonder how that would look with a white pickguard and a couple of humbuckers in it...

Those were sort of reissues of a USA prototype originally made in the late 60s or early 70s.

This is not made by Fender. I put it together with a body I found and a Warmoth neck, but I think it's what you're referring to. I call them Slab-Strats
