Did anyone gig a pre-CBS Tele in the 80's, 90's or beyond?

When I started to not take out the old guitars is also the time I started selling them to people who would.

I had a '65 Strat and a '68 Telecaster. I only played the Strat once at a gig (1995 at the Saint in Asbury Park). I did play it in the studio though. The Tele, I also only played one gig with it, 2001, at a bowling alley in Falls Church VA. They were just-one offs, because my main guitar through that period was a 1995 Gretsch 6120.

I was actually more concerned about drunks coming up between sets and wanting to "try" my guitar.

I bought a 63' tele and a 65' BF super reverb in the yukon for 450.00 I sold the tele back to the guy for 300.00 ( hard to play left handed) and kept the super . deals like this were every where then I also got a Gibson EB3L for 150.00 , we did gig with it a few times but too hard to southpaw for him and or me.

My nephew grew up plugged into my Mini Moog model D for hours on end

I played a '55 Tele all through college (66-70) and well into the seventies. When I bought it in 63 it was just a used guitar hanging on a pawn shop wall.

Lots of people still do. You have to keep a close eye on them, but that's what they are for.

I have a friend that on occasion plays his REAL ‘59 burst on a bar gig. Everyone assumes it’s a re-issue…

Depending on the gig, I've used my '59 Tele or the '65 Hofner bass for 40 years. I always unloaded everything out of the car except the guitar, parked it and carried the guitar in or out with me. The ones that sat at home all got sold eventually. Honestly, I never gave much thought about them getting stolen. I get stressed before gigs but once I open the case it's like "Oh, yeah, we've done this before." And that's why I still use them.

Bought a cheapo Gibson Les Paul Studio with coil-splitting for club gigs and jam sessions. It's junk and now has finish cracks plus dings in various places but serves it's purpose.

My 58 Tele I've played since I got in the mid 70's. Ever since I started playing live, a long time ago in a different universe, people were nicking guitars and it was/is something you just had/have to pay attention to. If you leave it unattended someone will grab it. I've never had it happen but it happened to other band members

I still have my '66 Tele too (bought in '86), but it misses the cutoff point by at least a year.

I used to play in a band in the 2000's where I brought a '54 telecaster, and a '63 strat. The other guitarist used a '52 telecaster and a '50's Gretsch. We had nice vintage AC30'a for a time as well. The bass player brought a mid-'50's Precision bass. I suppose I still would if I was gigging, but as someone else said, funky roadhouses are in the past for me!

I had a well-bastardized 1964 Tele that I traded into in 1981 and gigged from 1983 thru 1986.
It was a player, not a collector.
Had been refinished, pickguard routed for a Bill Lawrence Fat Strat in the neck.
For good measure, I put a set of mini-Schallers on it to make it even less collectible.
I was playing a pair of Blackface Deluxe Reverbs (1964 and 1966) that traveled in Anvil cases in our hi-tech 5 x 8 U-Haul trailer.
