A few years late to this thread but this looks really awesome. I think I'll take a stab at building one of these. I've some questions if you see this and could indulge me.
Can you tell me if there are any big differences advantages or disadvantages between the silicon version or the germanium in terms of tone/grit, clean up etc.
I notice the suggested transistors are all rated for a hFE of around 100 while your original post suggests an hfe of 220-300; I guess I would just need to sort through a bunch until I find the right higher rating? I've built a few fuzzfaces in the past and have bought pre tested and matched transistors for those. How would a lower hfe perform differently - be more or less gainy?
Does this pedal have other similar idiosyncrasies like a fuzzface - i.e., demands to be first in the chain; etc.?
