    With 400v on the primary that does not sound good. Was the amp played without the speaker connected? The magnet wire insulation will char in that case, perhaps causing a short

    Most amp problems are fixed offline by the original poster. There are too many variables for a diagnosis in a thread, most of the time.

    Nah I had an idiot error... I was holding the leads and probes in my hands... I think I was reading the resistance of my body... when I used gator clips it was fine.
