What delay pedals do you like? I am currently using a Boss DD-7 and a Tape Machine.
The Tape Machine is set pretty tight as a splapback. The DD-7 for a longer delay.
I like the Tape Machine. The DD-7 seems to be killing a bit of tone.

I am curious about the following:
Old Blood Noise Endeavors Black Fountain
    Crucial Audio Nugget

    I have a Deluxe Memory Man 1100-TT.

I love everything about it except it's size. A lot of the time it's more than I need but it always sounds amazing. It's always super ironic to me to see some new boutique analog delay... and it is basically a clone of the Memory man and tries to improve on it but is actually usually a subset of what the original does. Ooh that sound is cool. Oh wait yah the MM can do that.

I've tried (and liked) all of the following...
    Boss DD-3
    MXR Carbon Copy
    Hardwire DL-8
    Boss RV-3 Reverb/Delay and
    Boss DM-2W Analog Delay.

Out of all of them the DM-2W is my favorite.

My favorite is tape delay (Belle Epoch Deluxe), then analog, DM-2w being my current favorite of that flavor. Pedals have been really hit/miss for me in trying to nail down a tone I like. I generall prefer clean tails that sit behind the main signal and just kind of fill things out.

I am starting to play with digital delays and have never found a pedal that I liked well enough. I am looking into digital rack delays at this point since my perception is they will be higher quality.

I have always found digital delays to be too bright, hence my preference for tape and analog, but I think I am starting to like the brighter delay sound now. The Belle Epoch is always on, for its preamp and for very light slap-back, just to make it bigger.

I am trying the second delay in the effects loop, used for lead tones, etc.

I second the Belle Epoch and the DM-2W. The only reason the DM-2W left my board is because I got a Strymon Deco, so I'm using the Deco for slapback now and the Epoch for longer echoes, whereas before it was Epoch for slap and DM-2W for longer echoes.

For my "slapback" needs I just got me this, and I have great expectations: https://robertkeeley.com/product/Memphis+Sun+LoFi+Reverb+Delay+ADT/

For trippier things, I am debating Catalinbread Echorec vs Catalinbread Belle Epoch… I am more inclined to get the Echorec: it sounds wonderful, I have the impression that the preamp thing is less "constraining" than on an EP-3 emulator, and the multiple head things is fantastic.

I got sucked into the delay vortex a few months back. I researched a bunch. I ended up with the Boss DD-200. It is a great compromise of features and ease of use. The delay sounds are really good to my ear and you can pretty much dial everything in without referring to a manual. It's not too big either.

Boss DD500. Everything you could want in a delay, except maybe a tiny footprint.

I haven't tried either of those. I've had an MXR Carbon Copy and a Keeley Canyons on my board for quite a while and like them both.

I really think that bang for buck, it is incredibly hard to beat that Carbon Copy. Well made, sounds great, reliable, easy to use, great range, not too expensive, even looks pretty good.....I dunno. What more do you need?

    Could be operator error :)
It may just have a tone that is not working with the board as laid out.
I'm new to anything but a drive box and a volume knob.

Thanks for any suggestions - please keep em coming.

May I suggest the DOD Rubberneck Delay. They dropped the price, at least around here, a while back. It has all the specs you might desire and it sounds bright, dark, clean or dirty, whatever you want with a twist of knob.

Boss RE-20 if you like "vintage" echo tomes. Has multiple head settings and easy to operate and maintain (just change batteries) You'll pay 3 times its price for its "real tape" bigger brothers.

Sold my Belle Epoch Deluxe and got a Foxgear Echosex Baby. The Epoch sounded great, but I wanted something smaller and simpler...

This is very interesting to me because the Echosex is a "mono-head" Echorec in a way. So how would you describe the difference in sound? And does it do (also) "simple" delay well?
