I need help filling the last pedal board slot on my pedalboard. It needs to be a delay pedal not much bigger than MXR size.

My current gear is semi hollow ASAT specials (addicting) into fender deluxe reverb or vox ac30.

Board is as follows... polytune, DOD carcosa, DOD looking Glass, klone, mxr reverb, ehx 720 looper.

I'm not a big modulation guy and have trem and verb on amp. Use the mxr reverb as an effect and would like a nice delay pedal without a horrible buffer or takes up massive pedalboard real estate. The stages I play barely fit any gear on them.

What I'm looking for in a delay is a something that sounds natural. I don't want the delay or echo to overtake the sound completely I want it to feel like its melted in with the original signal. Hopefully it also sounds good in front of an amp because my amps don't have effects loops. Thanks for suggestions.

The answer is in your question: MXR...Carbon Copy.

carbon copy is cool, malekko 616 is very cool (but out of production, apparently), lovepedal/hermida eph-3 is the coolest of them all, says me. Does the echoplex preamp thing, hides the echoes behind the notes in a really pleasant, musical way. $50 if you catch up with one on sale, but the sale is winding down, and it looks like the eph-3 are all gone.

The Dunlop Echoplex pedal is an option, too. MXR-size box (same company).

This pedal really interests me. I had the carbon copy and flashback delays and they did nothing for me.

Boss DD3. It's being blown out for $89 right now. Fantastic delay and fantastic deal.

EHX Canyon or TC Flashback are delays and loopers. 2 for 1, just saved you $100 ;)

TC Flashback EP-3 TonePrint w/the ducking feature set at 40% natural sounding delay that actively stays out your busier playing and fills in the sparser areas. Works great and sounds fantastically full. I’ll PM you an example.

I can be somewhat of a label snob, especially in the FX & outboard gear department. But, there are so many pedals available today and most of them are basically the same thing. I found that the Donner Yellow Fall delay does everything I need from a delay in a very small physical & price package.

I’d vote for the flashback mkii. Lots of good options built in.

EHX Canyon is what I've been using for about a year now. You can dial it down to where the delay is barely discernible or really crank it up.

    Yep.

Alas, in a later post the OP shares that he had a Carbon Copy, but didn't like it. Not interested in the Flashback, either. And, finally...doesn't dig buffers.

    I'm out.

I have the Donner yellow fall too. It’s fine. Takes up no space, and cost like $30. I had a fancy one or two, but they had too many knobs.

As with all Donner pedals, I wonder if it's worth the extra $$$ to get the Mooer version...the Ana Echo.

I would think the echoplex if you want tape style delays, or a dd3/dd7 if you wanted something more digital sounding.

Sounds as good as the full size.
