I was hesitant to post this already as yesterday another member posted the same guitar (great minds think alike)

I stopped by the music store yesterday, tried to talk myself out of going because I knew if this was still there it was coming home, it played great and it was sold

The neck is FLAT but I think I can get used to it
it was kind of a no-brainer for wanting to give an Sg a try, especially since I don’t want humbuckers
The fit and finish are honestly surprising and the frets are fine

I do have a bonus sight though! Behold my first phaser

I haven’t fooled with it too much yet but I think it’s gonna be a keeper

    Congrats on your new axe.

I'd like an update on the phaser when you've used enough to have some opinions? I've never used one but I've been toying with the idea for s long time. Haven't bought a new toy in quite a while and a phase 90 could be it.

    Nice guitar.
I joked about it in another thread, but it seems like this has become the unofficial SG forum. Welcome to the SG owner's club. I got to spend some quality time with mine this afternoon, and it was sounding great. My playing, not so much...

Nice SG and Phaser. I had a univox phaser sometime around '81 ish and it had a really cool thick sound but gave it to my little Brother when he was gigging. Went without one until maybe a year ago and after trying a Phase 90 and a 95, both of which I returned to local GC, I ordered a Phase 100. (my step-Bro had one when they were new and I was already familiar with it) You get a bunch of cool sounds out of it and if you're into Waylon, Robin Trower, Stones (some girls/black and blue era) or just into scratching out some funky rhythm grooves, you'll likely get along with it. Don't give up on it too soon if you don't get it right off, Play with the knobs.

Don't point that Phaser at us. There's Klingons on the starboard bow.

Thanks. The short story is I grew up in New York with kids of certain ethnic backgrounds I'll call wiseacres....lol. All of them made plays on words with one liners galore when we were growing up. There wasn't one sacred topic. They were all stand up comedians. I learned from them. Thanks.

    Lovely SG*

*stands for Superior Guitar. My favorite guitar outside of a LP Standard

As much as I love my tele I can see it taking a backseat to my new, hopefully, LP

Congrats, I love the color and I'm a sucker for P90s.

That being said, I can't stand neck dive, and my problem with the SG model is all that I've tried, some to a degree that's ridiculous, have neck dive issues.

Does your neck dive too? I can't stand having to use my fretting hand to support the weight of the neck.

    Congrats again.

It does to a certain degree, not too bad, if I let go it sinks a little but nothing crazy like going straight to the floor

I’m mostly a wrist player and the height I have it strapped at my forearm pretty much stays on the body keeping it from moving

If my strap was a little more grippy I Don’t think it would dive at all

Moving the strap button on the back would probably help but it’s not bad enough to warrant it

Plus the body isn’t super light which probably helps, I’d say it feels close to the mid 7 pound range

I've been playing guitar for nearly thirty years, in all that time I've never even touched an SG! Seeing this thread makes me want one though, happy NGD!

Congrats! Really hope you enjoy the guitar!

I love my SG with p90's - it's a '50's Tribute' model from 2011. Really does sound lovely, I recently played one of the Epi ones you picked up, and they are equally as good - there is something about an SG with p90s that just works.

If I was going to get a P90 guitar, it would be this SG model!!

I just found out that the finish is REALLY THIN

I thought there was some crud on one of the edges so I gingerly scraped my fingernail across it and a little clear coat came off, thankfully you can’t really see it

So I looked around on it and saw another spot where the clear has been worn/scratched off revealing a little un-aged Pelham blue

Who would have thought on a poly Chinese guitar

It’s like fender thin skin thin!

I don’t know if they were rushing production or if it’s a new thing with all of them
