Came across a guitar at an estate sale. Last day of the sale, it was half price. Wasn't sure what it was, but had some quality bits so I took a chance.

    My questions:
    - body has an M serial number. I found a similar one on Reverb which is a roadworn model, so I now believe the body is genuine Fender. Is it? Where is it made?
    - can you identify these pickups?
    - the switch seems to have 4 positions, not 3 as I would expect.
    - aftermarket neck - is this birdseye maple?

    Any other thoughts appreciated. IMG_3560.JPG IMG_3562.JPG IMG_3565.JPG IMG_3567.JPG

Full body, full front and back neck etc would help. also closeups of controls and pickups

Mexican body, looks like a twisted tele neck pickup so could be a Baja Tele, especially with the 4 way switch and S1 switch on the vol pot.. Need more photos of the headstock and the whole guitar.

Couple more. Tuners seem to be vintage style but locking.

How do those tuners lock? It looks like some kind of partscaster. Play well?

Not enough to tell clearly the neck isn't fender, but the body could be a baja.

Lite ash necks had abalone dots, these ones look white but might just be the photo. Judging by the pickguard, steel E/A saddle and replacement neck someone put a bit of work into it, looks like a good one. Baja body, replacement neck and pickguard, neck looks good whatever it is. Half price at an estate sale sounds good to me, especially if it plays well.

Hard to say if it was a deal...because half price of what? Did I miss that?
Yeah, it seems like a Fender with a non-Fender neck. $200?

    .

Looks like the owner got the Baja and didn't like the factory chunky neck.

    Well bought.

Aftermarket neck, wrong neck plate and pickguard, probably MIM 50s "Baja" loaded body.

What's the weight on this body? I suspect the previous owner liked the Baja neck and kept that and is still using it. This is some remaining bits he pushed together and they're not too bad.
