The summertime gets me into Dead listening mode. I love hanging out on the deck, a cold drink, acoustic guitar, listening to Dead shows. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan in my youth and missed a lot of great shows. Funny how people change....

    Thanks for those posting links!

Saw this on the British Open broadcast this morning on a new Humira commercial....

It sure looks like a custom built Cripe Guitar copy.

    Here’s Jerry with the original...

I saw that too. The band couldn't go on until their singer could recover from inflammatory bowel disease. The band didn't look too convincing, even by Big Pharma TV standards. They looked like a band from Portlandia. But without Henry Rollins.

Shedding some "fun" stuff for upcoming Dead On Live shows. My fav Jerry bit from China Cat, and some nice Grisman Friend of the Devil. www.deadonlive.com

Note for note yes, but shows always include plenty of just jamming.....

    Marc, incredible as always!

So, what model Strat are you playing?
I’m sure Alligator had been Frankensteined by the time of the Europe ‘72 tour.
Are you using any effects to get the rubbery tone of Alligator?
I also love the video on your website of China, you guys absolutely nailed it! And that tone!

    Thanks again

Saw them once at Watkins Glen Summer Jam in ‘73
Not exactly a Dead Head but I must say, I don’t know a song of theirs I DON’T like.

This is a cheapo highway 1 stock strat. Funny, plays great and sounds more right for eu 72 than my really nice other strat. This vid is just straight into a 67 ampeg reverberocket 2, because it was there. For shows I use 73 twin w JBLs thru a boss GT 6 that I modeled to add some more rubber to the tone. Still chasing the sound. It was in his fingers so impossible to emulate. Will keep trying anyway. Thanks for listening.

Marc, that sounds awesome. I wish I could do that. That early '70s stuff is my favorite. My first show was '73 Boston Garden, I thought Garcia's playing was the coolest thing I had ever heard.

I was 13 in 1990 when I first heard the Dead.

I grew up in London and an American family moved in next door. The 3 sons used to play the Dead all the time, loud, windows open - from the first time I heard Franklin's Tower that summer I've been hooked. As soon a summer rolls around every year I get into the whole vibe again.

One of the brothers was tragically killed the year after in a rock climbing accident, he was 21. They played the Dead at his funeral :(

Of all the bands I like and followed, the Dead have a special place in my heart.

I wasn't into the Dead until fall of 2015 when Dead & Co debuted. Since then, I've been listening daily, saw them last summer and in 2016, also doing the "couch tour" thing and have learned that the song catalog is amazing. Mayer brought me to the party, I'm very Grateful for that.

What did the Deadhead say when he ran out of pot?
    "What is that horrible music?"

Great response. Funny thing is that I've been listening to a bit of the Dead and it's growing on me. Got Mom's records when she passed and have been running into a lot of good stuff.

Saw that! I’m worried baseball may interfere again this year. Maybe I’ll just go to Noblesville.
