    Day 9

Snuck into early shopping with the old people, but shelfs where empty.
    Returned to fortress of solitude
Met a gal on the front room couch today
    Says she's my wife.
    She seems nice.

We got out a bit today, met up with a friend and his wife at the coffee shop in Deadwood we usually go to. Of course they are closed 'for the duration' and we knew it, but the deck still has the tables and chairs out. We all brought our own coffee from home in thermos mugs, and they also brought some homemade brownies, so we had a nice thirty-five mile ride up on the Goldwing and an hour of casual chat in the sunshine...

That's an odd take on social distancing. I've obviously been doing it all wrong.

Electric mud, it's best not to count the days, I've found.

Dammit John Backlund, you're supposed to be anxious, scared, and miserable. What is wrong with you?

    Kidding, I'm kidding.

I worked all day. Then I turned around and there was my Telecaster. I played a bit. Then I turned around and logged on to here. The dogs came in to visit a couple times. I think I heard a woman's voice calling me but I was working so I ignored it.

I can only hope you and your country are through the worst. What advice would you give those of us a week behind you?

Thin White Duke we are with you in spirit and prayer. We hope for the best in Italy and the World on this.

I go to work and go home, that's all I can do as a good citizen. I am able to do that but many are not. Grocery stores, pharmacies, and Walmart are open. They can't shut them down. Be mindful avoiding infection is all I can say.

Think I’m on day 38. Wish I had more time to play guitar. Adapting my courses to work online, recording lectures, creating and grading assignments, and figuring out (and working around the problems with) the university’s online system takes about 70% more time than going in and teaching would. For no extra pay, of course. Isolation doesn’t bother me at all, but all the extra work is kind of pissing me off.

I’m only on day 2...was told to “work from home” despite having no way to do so...played some guitar, listened to Joe Rogan, took a nap played a video game, then went for a windy bike ride...I better figure something out soon before my brain goes completely crazy...
