Dawn Sears has passed away in Nashville last night. If anyone doesn't know who she was, she was without a doubt the best female country singer I've ever heard in my life.... Just go to YouTube and bring up her singing "Sweet Memories" with the Timejumpers band. She'd been Vince Gill's backup singer for years and just blew away any competition she ever had among female vocals. She had no equal, not even Patsy Cline.... She'd been suffering from cancer for a good while and finally succumbed. She leaves behind her husband Kenny Sears who was/is one of Nashville's premier fiddle players and the band leader of the Time Jumpers... This really saddens me a bunch.........JH in Va.

Just listened to her on YouTube - wow, what a great voice. My thoughts are with her, her friends, and family.

I'm very sad to learn of her passing. Someone had reported here on the forum that her cancer was in remission, I thought she was doing OK. I'm sure many, many of here fellow musicians are missing her right now. I'm so sorry for her family and friends, she was truly a great talent, and from all reports a wonderfully nice person.

Aw poop. Sad sad news. Thanks for letting 'us' know. :(

I caught her with the Time Jumpers a few years ago, she and they were magnificent of course. Fine as fine gets. Peace to her legions of fans, and to her family and friends.

Aw man. That is is such a shame. That girl had more heart than just about anyone out there - and a voice to match.

A sad day for the music I love. Dawn Sears, in my estimation anyway, was one of the greatest voices in music today. She, along with the rest of the Time Jumpers, performed exactly the right blend of "country" and "country jazz" that I personally prefer.

Their rendition of Sweet Memories cannot be improved on.

That was probably me. I had seen her earlier this year, and about a year ago with Vince, and she had finished chemo and looked and sounded like she was going to beat it. Now I'm heartbroken!!!

Here is a clip of her about 6 months ago:

What a voice, no wavering notes there.
The Timejumpers complement her perfectly, no clash of egos in that VERY professional band. Sad that the music world has lost such a voice.

That video of her and Paul Franklin weaving in and out of the lines there says it all. Paul Franklin's one of the very best steelers of all time, but I have not heard him play better than when he was playing behind Dawn. My condolences to her family and wide circle of friends.
