Ah, but poets and philosophers are not perfect, or above. They are able to see the “perfect" and “above” (or deep into human nature, including the “below” and “imperfect”) and convey it to us.

I know I should stay quiet and close this thread...but before I do, I must say this is one of the worst threads I've ever read on TDPRI.

Not sure how he did it, you'd have to ask Croz. Steve Jobs did it by placing himself on more than one regional organ waiting list.

I believe the thinking comes more from his hard life of drinking, drugs and hepatitis. I had a friend who was an alcoholic who died from liver failure. She was ineligible for a transplant due to her history of alcohol abuse and she died two months later at 42. Why did she have to die because she was ineligible, but Crosby who had a longer history with drugs and alcohol but had a lot celebrity was "eligible".

I'm just being factual. I actually like a lot of his music.

Not at all. Just saying you can't compare the two. One is a pioneer and one is a relatively minor player

Do you have any facts to support that?

Facts to support what? That he had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and somehow was able to get a liver that Phil paid for?

I mean the guy is super talented musically, but also had a talent for finding controversy.

My, is there a difference? They look the same from a distance.

Irrespective of the terminology, they look hideous on stage.

"somehow was able to get" is not evidence of anything.

I really don't know what you're getting at. He had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and got a liver in spite of other people who wouldn't have been able to in the same circumstances. Only variable really is his celebrity and money. Not quite sure what you're trying to argue.

"got a liver in spite of other people who wouldn't have been able to in the same circumstances. " You are saying that and I have not been able to find any evidence to back it up, nor have you, apparently. Pretty simple.

    I don't know David...

...but I'd like to think that most of what he really is (and isn't) comes through in his voice and his song's.

He got a liver... Thats not in dispute. He was a drug and alcohol abuser. Thats not in dispute. My friend died because she was told she couldn't get a liver due to her alcohol abuse. That happened. I'm really confused by what you are arguing.

How convenient, lol. Superior enough to see what I cannot, while simultaneously forgiven for being as flawed as I. What happened to exceptional in privilege, exceptional in expectation?

NO ! Despite what you and some idiots in the media think the Boomer generation was about thinking about helping others and taking care of the Earth itself. Your confusing us w the greedhead yuppies of the 80s.

Hah, it’s not convenient at all. It’s a demonstration of human weakness. Seneca admitted openly to that: I see clearly what I should be doing, but I am not always capable of doing it, weak as I am.
