My daughter's in LA and might be coming back to the tundra. She's currently sending me links for Z3s for sale, guess she wants to ride back in style and she knows I want one.
Of course it snowed here this morning. . .

Yeah, I want one too. Do you need an extra son?

As a former BMW owner, twice, I highly recommend against it.

Be sure of one thing (if buying used I assume) make sure the timing belt has been changed. (~ 80 k miles is the first time IIRC)

My golfing buddy brought his brother in law to a golf game recently. He told us he was making almost seventeen hundred dollars a day as a head driller down in Texas. He was just here for the weekend. When we were having breakfast, his son called and said you bought me a nice gaming computer, but I need a big four K monitor to go with it. The guy said I'll buy you a monitor as soon as you get a job. The kid piped back, I don't need a job Daddio you've got a good one! I reckon maybe your daughter is using the same logic.:lol::lol:

Get her a Z71 4x4 and a .380 (trying to use Z's and 3's here). They might do her more good the way the world seems to want to go...

Man I have been jonesing for small convertible coup and the Z3 and Z4 have both caught my eye. But after reading the stories on reliability maybe I will just get another Miata and drop a 302 in it and put a body kit on it.

Well she knows I want one anyway and she need a way home. She found some pretty cheap Z4s but I don't much care for those.

I have a buddy that received a new Z3 for his college graduation.
His family owns a large chunk of northern Mexico.
The best I could do was an Austin Healey Sprite which was actually for my brother but due to some bad behavior on his part, I got the car. Woo-hoo!

A friend had a beautiful Z3. Kept it a couple years. Nice car. She replaced it with a Mini. She drove the wheels off the Mini. Smiling the whole time. World of difference in her attitude.

Talk the daughter into something else.

My daughter's probably wanting the Mini she gave me when she went to LA back.
Actually I almost traded it off last weekend on a 2,000 Z3 anyway, just couldn't make a deal.

BMW doesn't use belts in their engines, they all have chains.

If you don't do your own wrenching they can get expensive to maintain, but if you like to do your own work they're not bad at all as far as cost of ownership. I've had my 325is for 14 years, and the cost of ownership has not been any different than any of my other cars. They are, however, an absolute blast to drive.

Some did.. Which is why I posted. Maybe it's just the older ones though? My daughters convertible blew the engine 3 days after purchase (used of course) due to a rubber timing belt. Maybe the newer BMW's are all chain, (?) Glad they got smart!
    But beware of models: https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit...w-class-action-seeks-fix-engine-chain-defect/
