I say Data, and he wouldnt even need a phaser. Hes highly dexrerious, so a difficult target for R2s wimpy welder/laser tool, plus hes stronger than a Wookie and could rip R2 into pieces.

My co worker says R2 could fly around and zap Data with aforementioned laser.

R2D2 would kick skinny's butt. Go to 55 seconds.

You'll get push back because Star Wars is a huge fad right now. Apparently it's perceived as a way to retroactively buy your way into geekdom if you weren't actually one as a kid. Those of who were beat up and mercilessly hassled over being into D&D, reading Tolkein and Sci-Fi, digging Dr. Who (before it was cool and back in production) and Star Trek are not amused.

Anyway, this thread will go back and forth in disagreement with hypothetical proof of the superiority of one or the other, then die a natural death as everyone moves on to the next thread.

Disclosure: I've always been a Star Trek person, never quite got Star Wars even though I enjoyed it as a kid. Even at the time (1977?) I though Close Encounters of the Third Kind was far more cool than Star Wars. I saw SW once, I saw CEotTK at least seven times.

I'm kidding... but everyone knows Data is really a person with bad makeup on. Not even a real droid.

R2D2. He could hack into Data's facebook and deactivate him.

Data would appreciate you saying this but his positronic neural network would prevent him from feeling any actual emotion.

It's a good thing Darth Vader wasn't in the poll, he could hold Data by the neck, with his own control of the force while he carved up R2D2 with his light saber, and enjoyed a little tuna delight from his feeding tube inside his helmet, while he watched the Patriots annihilate the Jets on his streaming device inside that very same helmet.

I used to drive to the next town over to watch the original Star Trek in color at a buddies house when it was on back in 1966. I tried watching an episode the other day, it stunk so bad, I couldn't go with more than five minutes of it. I think it had too much William Shatner.

Whatever was wrong with it, too much Shatner was surely not the problem

Shatner, in the context of Star Trek, does no wrong.
He's the King in that world.

In all else though, I will not be his apologist
