New (to me) singer sent my way by You Tube- they don't always miss- good band, too. I've checked out a few videos and been pretty impressed- anyone know anything about her?

She's local to me and has a big following here. She is a phenomenal performer and singer, and a pretty damn good bass player. Her album "Cry No More" is excellent. She does a Thanksgiving show at one of the nightclubs here every year, and the year Aretha passed away, did the show as a tribute to her and Etta James. She can definitely do justice to both of them. Go see her if you get the chance, I think you'll come away pleased.

Danielle Nicole Schnebelen is from a very musical family in the greater KC area along with her Brother Kris Drums and Nick on guitar formed Trampled Under Foot. That Kris on Drums in the OP video sadly passed from cancer a few years later. I spent many an evening at The Grand Emporium and later Knuckleheads watching their shows. These were 1st rate friendly people that took time with their fans. The father was a longtime musician in the area in a blues band.

Left behind wife and 3 young children RIP Kris

Is anyone else just completely done with that style of singing?

Male or female, I can no longer tolerate it. It's so affectated. I keep waiting for her to sing, "I sing bluezzz songs, babaeee."

It's kind of a blues thing, got to feel it to sing sort of thing. Especially the women singers, Etta James effect I suppose.

I don’t like it when it’s affected, but I don’t detect that here, it’s just a different sort of natural voice.

Meh...

I got fed up halfway into this clip.
Good voice for those who like that sort of belting.

But, not for me.

Sorry.

affectation

noun

af·fec·ta·tion ˌa-ˌfek-ˈtā-shən

Synonyms of affectationit would be "affecvtedf"

a
: speech or conduct not natural to oneself : an unnatural form of behavior meant especially to impress others

b
: the act of taking on or displaying an attitude or mode of behavior not natural to oneself or not genuinely felt

Merriam Webster definition
I know what an affectation is. Affect, however is a verb; it would be "affected", not "affectated". Unless of course it was intended as a joke. Or maybe it's just an affectation.
