One of my top guitars (and far and away my favorite to look at) is Jane, the green Danelectro DC59 RI that my girlfriend got me for Christmas. It's light, beautiful, and sounds great.

Only gripe - It's oddly shaped (the body is very wide), which makes finding the proper protection for it nigh impossible. None of my current Hardshell cases fit its body width, and none of the HSCs I've tried at the local guitar shops have fit either (a few bass cases and Gibby 335 cases fit the width close enough, but not the height). I've been carting it around in an old bass gig-bag to keep it from scratching.

Anybody know of/have any experience with HSCs that accommodate Danelectros? I know Dano used to make a case, but they're near impossible to track down.

    Hey.

I am in the same situation as you, looking for a case for my DC 3. Just wanted to know if you manage to find a good case for your guitar?

I have a Longhorn. Same problem as you - I just use a gig bag and hope for the best.

    I have a Dano Baritone.
    It doesn't fit in anything.
I bought a Tweed Bass case from GC. Far from perfect, but I safer with that than any gig bag.

When the Dano reissues first started in the 90's I knew 99% of the folks who bought them wouldn't buy the Danelectro logo tweed hardshell case.

When a neighbor first showed me his Dano (ordinary '99 Dano DC) I was freaking out that he had the case.

He's like "yeah - I bought it new"

Then I told him that the case was waaaay more rare than the guitar.

Keep watching on Ebay - they do come up.

Easier way though : buy a used Dano on Ebay that has the case and then just flip the guitar.

Dano's w/ the cases come up 10X more often than the cases alone.

Road Runner makes a black tolex case which is wide enough and long enough for a Dano DC -- currently $69 at GC. Take your guitar along to make sure it fits -- I bought mine about three years ago, hopefully Road Runner hasn't changed their specs. On the GC website, search for "Road Runner RRDWE Deluxe Wood Electric Guitar Case." HTH

The TKL 6130 Zero Gravity Polyfoam case is a perfect fit for the Danelectro SDC12, and a near perfect fit for the Danelectro DC59. It is not a hardshell, but it's polyfoam and canvas, and has the benefit of backpack straps and a side handle. I've seen them from $80 to $149 and more. You have to decide what it's worth as it isn't a hardshell.
