Hello guys. I am wondering which one guitar to buy between Danelectro 56-u2 1st reissue and Squier CV 50's Strat? I really Syd Barret's tone in Interstellar Overdrive (check it below) and as a whole I prefer guitars with jangly and trebly tone.

Which one would you recommend?

That's akin to asking, "What should I eat, a taco or a banana split?"

The two guitars are very, very different in terms of feel and sound. The Dano can certainly do the jangly, trebly thing, but it has very low output pickups, so it's not going to have nearly as much punch or volume as the Stratocaster without some extra help (overdrive or clean boost).

The two guitars are physically quite different as well. The Dano has a flatter fretboard than the Strat, and the neck will probably be a tad thicker. Access to the upper fretboard on the Dano is right out given the not-very-generous cutaway. You also get the tremolo on the Stratocaster, but I don't know how important it is for you to have that.

They're both good guitars, and it really comes down to what you want out of the instrument. The Dano has some significant limitations, but nothing else sounds like it. The Strat will be more versatile. I think your amp and effects are going to go farther towards getting you to Syd Barrett's tone; either guitar should be capable of getting you there with the right rig.

I played that Dano in a GC a few weeks ago while trying to work up the deal on my LP. It felt like a toy to me. The sound was very weak, thin, and I was overall disappointed. My vote is the Strat.

The Dano is a one trick pony (albeit a good one). The Strat is a draught horse. I see guys drag the Dano out for a song, or a set at most. The Strat does the heavy lifting for the rest of the night.

An Esquire ;)

And there you have it! Lots of votes for Strats, lots of pictures of Syd and his Esquire. No pictures of Syd and a Strat, that I know of,but I have seen quite a few of syd and a Danelectro.

All that typing and I agree with Alex, go with the Esquire. Then the Strat, you can cover more Floyd with it.

I have both. The CV is downright refined compared to the Dano. Go for the Strat if you if you want something reliable with a great sound-albeit middle of the road. Go for the Dano if you want something to bang out some garage punk.
