I'm looking again at getting a baritone and the Dano 56 is my choice for several reasons: Price, weight, and most of all--twang. If you own one, or used to own one, I'd appreciate your opinions on this guitar.
I own a Danelectro guitar and will never part with it.
I have twanged a Danelectro baritone. I didn't know I wanted a baritone until that moment.
Danelectro. Looks, sound, playable, sturdy, light - the good points. The bad?, I'll get back to you.
Other opinions are available. Their validity requires confirmation.
I have the 63 model, not the 56. I got it used at GC at a considerable discount because it had been modded. The mod was an expensive Jeff Senn bridge replacement. If there is/was a weak point on these guitars, it's the wooden bridge but it looks like they've corrected this in the newer models.
I string mine with D'Addario Chromes 12s. I like the flatwound sound.
