Dallas International Guitar Festival 2022

I've seen threads for previous years but not for this year's show. Is anyone headed to the Dallas show this year?

My brother and I are leaving this afternoon to catch the show opening tomorrow and hope to check out the concerts as well as the show inside Market Hall. I've had my eye on the show for a few years but it finally came together to attend this year.

I went to Arlington last year.

VERY disappointing.

I’m out of town this weekend, or I’d be at the Dallas show. I have the itch to address some GAS, and a few pieces I want to add to the Guitarsenal.

My bud Jay Jay French is playing for the first ime in public since Twisted Sister hung it up. He's doing a show with Rocky Athas. Not sure when, but if you see Rocky playing, Jay Jay will be on stage with him.

Planning on going on Saturday. I hope catch a Redd Volkaert performance but can’t seem to find a schedule. I don’t want to have to go back on Sunday as I will be returning to Oklahoma.

I go to guitar shows to gawk, mostly.
I have bought guitars, notably a pine-caster that looked cool, but sounded awful, and a gold top reissue.
You sometimes get to see the odd(!) rock star.
Not this time, but I’ve seen Marilyn Manson, Rick Derringer and Eric Johnson at em’
I had fun, but it was a 7 hour round trip.
I’ll never have the kind of money needed to buy that kind of stuff.
I actually only stayed an hour.
I am glad I went.

Heritage Auctions had George Harrison's 1958 "Ransom" Les Paul in a glass case -- story behind it here:

They also had Paul McCartney's 1988 southpaw LP Custom:

Note surprisingly flamey neck for a Leo-era Strat:

Outside, there was plenty of live music, including the Ally Venable Band:

I was there this year. I'd been in 2017 - 2019 but missed last year. It was good to be back.
