I just checked my copy of Paul Balmer's, "The Fender Telecaster Handbook", which includes a case study of a 2008 Squier Classic Vibe 50's Tele, and it indicates that the truss rod wrench size = 5mm and the saddle wrench size = 1.5mm.

I'll confirm the wrench sizes when my Tele gets here, which I now see is on back-order until late June. Arrggghhhh!

Anyway, thought you guys might want to know...

By the way, the book is a great resource and would make a nice gift for that special Tele player in your life. ;)

thanks although Ive always just used whatever fits the fastener. It is what it is.
While you can buy just one Allen wrench at a time, its just as cheap to buy a whole set.

Happy soon to be new guitar day. When it comes show it off so we can be jealous!
(I'll get mine one of these days)

I do have full sets of both the SAE and Metric hex keys, but I like to keep a set in the luthier's box in my workshop, where I do my setups.

I received my new CV50 BSB (unfortunately, it had to go back).

I measured the hex wrenches with my digital caliper and confirmed that the sizes are 1.5mm (saddles) and 5mm (truss rod).

Hope this helps.

While you are waiting for your new guitar to arrive, you should place an order at Mojotone.com for the Rene Martinez 24 pc. screwdriver set. It's an awesome set of tools for your guitar that doesn't cost much. You will absolutely love it.

Paul Balmer was WRONG! :oops:

The correct sizes of the wrenches for the CV '50s Tele are:

Truss Rod = 5mm
Saddles = 1/16"

I went to the hardware store and measured the wrenches that came with the new CV '50s Tele that I received today. Plus, I received a spec sheet from Fender Consumer Relations tonight and the specs confirm the sizes received.

Hope that clears up the confusion, guys.
