If you had bought a Tele in 1952 which pickup in the cv 50 would be closer...alnico 3 or alnico 5?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

None, sorry to burst your bubble, but those necks are completely different. The pickups are different, the wiring is different. I could go on and on.

Seriously if you really want a 52 save your money and get one.

Neither will compare to a 52RI but to answer your question the BSB with Alnico V's will be closer to the orginal pickups used in the early Telecasters. The VB with Alnico III's will be a "hotter" pickup with more output and more the a 'hot rodded" 52.

Depends on what real 52 you are comparing it to as they were all wouynd different but they were Aiii liuke the VB.painted CV's.

The VB ones have a bridge pickup thats wound hot like a 50's Broadcaster 8.5-8.8k AIII raw ballsy gritty.

The BSB models have a lower output 5.8k A5 twangy thin and clear

In 52 you could find pickups wound to many different specs unlike today.

You could always put the pickups from the 52ri in a CV50's BSB and get close to the sound of a 52ri.
