I've seen a couple of demos of the 1963 Custom Shop Telecaster and absolutely love the sound. I want those pickups. However, so far the specs I've found have said that they are 1963 Custom Shop pickups, which I'm having trouble finding aftermarket. There are plenty of Pure Vintage 64's, but I don't think those are quite the same. Anyone know anything about these pickups or where to find them? They have an awesome not-too-twangy, not-too-dark, articulate chime.

I've seen in a place or two that some of the 63's came with the 64 pickups, but somehow that doesn't seem right to me. These sound a bit different to me.

They look like the '62 set, up close.

No, I don't know the CS '63 specs. Never seen them published. I just mean visually, they have similar smaller bevelled magnets, casing and string - all look very similar to the '62 set.

I really like the '62 set.

By the way, Fender confirmed for me that the 63 are only offered on new Custom Shop builds, but offered the info that they are Alnico II 7.37k neck, 6.59k bridge (+/- 10%)

thanks for that. Maybe similar to 62s. I don't go much for DC measurements. Just what I like to hear.

I hear you. For the sake of having the info though, Fender consumer relations kindly gave me the specs on the 62's:

    Neck:
Magnets were alnico 2 beveled, clockwise winding, polarity is north up. Resistance is 7.4 - 7.8, inductance is 2.1

    Bridge:
    6.1 - 6.5 Resistance
    3.2 - 3.6 Inductance
all other info is the same.
