Custom Esquire?

    Did Fender ever make a “custom esquire” whether it be USA, Mexico, or whatever with an L serial number on the back plate? Any info?

    Not sure of the L serial number, but here is another Custom Esquire at Songbirds Guitar Museum (sorry, the attached .pdf is not the right one, but the full pic is)

    Fender Japan made some Custom Esquires during the 80's-90's at least. Although I don't think there was any "L" (or s/n of any sort) on the back plate.

    There were 50s and 60s custom esquires. I haven't seen any standard newer versions other than custom shop etc.

    Makes sense Japan would make some, they seem to be ahead of the game when it comes to retro vintage having reissued the pink paisley and blue flower finishes in the 80s.
