Nope, different pinout. The Chinese 6N4 is supposed to have a 12AX7 pinout, but that's all I know about it because I couldn't find a datasheet, not even one in Chinese.

All dealers and most sites consider the Chinese 6N4 to be a 12AX7, except for one German site with a bunch of different nonsense on their forum.

Easy to try though if you are using 6V heaters as most guitar amps do. The 6N4P has pin 9 for the internal shield instead of the heater center tap, so you'd just ground pin 9 and move its heater wire to 4 or 5 (and separate 4 & 5.) In other words, you'd just have to do very minor rewiring and only in the heater circuit. The two triodes are connected the same.

With my ears (running Diesels on Submarines) , I'm happy if I plug the tube in, fire up the amp and it makes sound. Yeah! Subtleties don't exist for me.

So, yes, if your into Hi end audio, your $100,00 monoblock amps, to me, sound just like my GE clock radio I bought at Walmart. Just sayin.
