Its been about 5 years since I’ve built a guitar. Im going to build a tele to match the last strat I built. Here’s the start of the tele and the strat I’m matching. Wish me luck guys!

Wow...the flame on that neck is astounding!

Beautiful. Looks more like flame maple finished. Where did the wood come from?

The neck wood came from a local exotic lumber supply here in SouthEast Louisiana. Its called Acadian Cypress. Not sure if they sell online or not.

The plank for the body came from curlymaplewood.com. I got it a few years ago.

    Both are very flamey

I like the Strat-style, although I'd rather have a forearm carve. Good Luck!

Wonderful material you chose for this!! And that Strat type is a real looker, too!

Made some slight progress. Waiting on binding to arrive to install and rout the rest of the pockets. [IMG]

Solid maple body? How much does that Strat weigh?

    Gorgeous material...

First I've heard of that supplier. I'll definitely be ordering... thanks!

I haven’t put it on a scale but it is heavy. Couldn’t help myself though.

I haven’t ordered from him in a few years but he would call me when he got planks that were wide enough for one piece bodies. Good dude to deal with and he had some killer material.

I just finished a tele with flame maple on both the rear and front, with maple core. I did some minor weight relief drilling in the core. But still weighs nearly 12 lbs. Should have done full chamber I guess. Also those holes were probably only 2/3 into the wood core.

Pretty guitar and clean work. It's interesting to me that most suppliers I've dealt with in the past 50 years are speaking of western Maple from the Pacific Northwest when they say Curly Maple and refer to the hard rock Maple as flame maple when it is figured but I see that's not the case with curlymaplewood.com. No industry standards anymore, everything redefined. Nothing so constant in life as change and it plays hell with the OCD. I was confused at first because typically Curly Maple has cloud-like figuring and not the pronounced flame pattern. Years ago I built both an all hard rock Maple (the syrup tree) guitar and one with a Curly Maple (PNW Maple somewhat related to Alder). Both hard Maple necks. The Curly Maple guitar was warmer more like an Alder bodied guitar and similar weight, the hard rock Maple guitar was so bright and heavy even after I routed out under the pickguard that I gave it away to my bandmates kid.

Indeed I actually used curly soft maple. I didn't realize "flame maple" typically referred to hard (rock) maple.

Beautiful guitar...The hardware color choice really works with the gold and silver and complements the natural maple. You have great skills and the binding is just gorgeous.

Wow. Some beautiful wood being used in here. Just don’t get that sort of wood down our way. :(

They sell online and ship. You shouldn’t have any problems getting some
