Hi all, I'm new to the forum and CS Fenders in general. I have a few Gibsons and love fat necks, the R7 LP being my favourite. I can't be doing with skinny necks.

So my question is this, these two are apparently fairly chunky necks but which is the bigger of the two?
The first is listed as a '52 U shape and the second is a 60s Oval C.

I have a 52 reissue and the neck on it feels in between a 58 and 59 Les Paul. The only ones that I have personally felt that feel anything like a 57 LP is a broadcaster.

    Honestly

If you’re favorite is an R7, mine is also, no fender is gonna come close unless you custom Order something crazy fat

    It’s worth trying before buying

There’s fender fat and then there is GIBSON FAT

I’ve played plenty of fenders that claim to be chunky and some are comfortable but not in the same realm as Gibson

Maybe some other members know better

probably something with a 51 U profile or even a fat 59 C will get close

Edit: I just saw the o.p went for the 52, sweet guitar

Yes I went for the 52 U shaped neck. It's reasonably fat compared to other Fenders but nowhere near the chunk of my Gibsons. I can manage, they're different beasts!

I can see your house from here.
My CS Gatton has the same neck dimensions as my 1990 Les Paul Custom, with full round shoulders.

My old 51 Nocaster Thinline was fatter than my 2002 52RI by miles. Doesn't feel as wide as a Gibson due to the wider shoulders and bigger radius of the Les Paul but it was a chunky slugger. Almost an inch front to back at the nut. Broadcaster or Nocaster.
