Getting back into a bit of gigging. I'm looking at doing a duo with a percussionist at mostly breweries. I've got a lot of classic stuff but I'm looking for recommendations for tunes that will resonate with the 40 something crowd. Stuff on the energetic side,

    Thanks

Lots of similar stuff i'd rather not hear when i'm out.:)

I would just concentrate on songs you love that will work well in that arrangement. If you cant trust your own taste in music which you will end up playing with much more enthusiasm and enjoyment then who's can you trust.

This is a cool song for acoustic from the early 90's that would be fun to play.
    Starts at 2.15 mins.

Personally, I always appreciate an inventive medley, incorporating cool key changes & thematic tie-ins

A lot of you guys are really whiffing on this. OP is asking for songs that would be popular with the fortysomething crowd. We’re talking about children of the 80s and early 90s here.

A lot of the suggestions are general crowd pleasers for the most part, regardless of age.

But if you’re trying to elicit nostalgia in a 40-something, you have a better shot with Jesse’s Girl or Paradise City.

    Sweet Caroline? Cripes.

Also, keep in mind that he is in Missoula, Montana. There is a college there but it is cowboy country.

I was going to recommend, "What I like about you." But it came out in 1980 which is still too early.
