Is it just me, or is it easier to be creative when playing in a minor key? Any minor key just gets my creative juices flowing.

Me too! And the obvious benefit is that minor scales always work over major keys as opposed to vice versa.
'Happy' major scales over their chords never sound right to me. Perhaps I need to speak to a psychologist!

Its easier. Simple A aeolian is easiest. C major ionian is difficult, it easily winds up sounding like music for pre school kids.

This. Try Dorian. Or harmonic minor.

I like Phrygian and Gypsy/Latin type scales. Easy to blend in with the Aeolian for some exotic accents.
