    Hello,
I bought a hughes and kettner "cream machine" tube preamp on ebay last week. i opened it today to check the tubes.

the tubes look fine but the bigger transformer on the right looks wierd. underneath the transparent cover it looks as if some brown fluid had been soaking through and running down the side of it.

when i touched it the brown stuff was dry. is this normal? is it something to seal the transformer?

or is it a sign that the transformer was misfunctioning. it looks like brown glue... is it acid?

as you can guess i do not know anything about transformers. just want to know if i should send the cram machine back or keep it.

    thanks
    simon
