Great song!
A bit of trivia... "Badge" has nothing to do with the song. Apparently Eric Clapton misread George Harrison's scribbled notes when they were writing it, and misunderstood BRIDGE for BADGE!

Clapton has 2 songs I REALLY like. Badge is 1 and Rain the other. They have a similar feel in my opinion
I love that song. Played it a lot back in the day.
I like the different take Clapton came up with for the '97 Hyde Park concert which is more what I was doing several years ago:
Steve Gadd's drums and the bass work is superb on this.

When I was just a youngster back in the 70's I used to jam with some older guys

One of my favorites. It was probably 1975 before I played it in a band . . . piano, not guitar. The other guitar player played it effortlessly.
I was at this performance! I guarantee you my wife and I are in some of those crowd shots! Fantastic performance!
Every time I hear this song, I realize what a big influence Jack Bruce was on my bass playing. Brilliant stuff.
Gawd, lucky you! I have a video of that concert. It was just killer with the new arrangements and EC still had the "big band", backup singers, etc with him!

I played bass in a trio and Badge was always a highlight of the set for me. Love how he changes the bass line for the 3rd verse.
