When I bend on the g string it makes a sort of creaking sound... Have any of you tech whizzes experienced this? Is there a solution?

Any help would be gratefully received!

Getting hung up in the nut slot? Does it creak or 'ping' as you tune up that string? Solution is to file or polish the nut slot. (a wound string of the correct guage can make a good filing/polishing tool). Another cause could be a scratch on a fret somewhwere. Just enough to catch the string a bit when you bend - sand 'em smooth...

Would lubricating the nut slots be worth a shot? Saddles too? Could well be hanging up as yeah it sometimes does that ping when I tune up!

What kind of everyday stuff can you use to lubricate contact points?

You can use a pencil. Just sharpen it and rub the point in the nut slots. Pure graphite, a pretty good lubricant and cheap as chips.

Chapstick, run it across the whole nut and work it in.

Also check the neck screws/bolts. Sometimes it they aren't snug, you'll get some creaking.

    Big Bends Nut Sauce

Been using this stuff on nuts and string trees and bridge saddles for years.

A little goes a long way - solves tuning and creaking issues!
