Had to get out my cinch strap (you should have seen the guy at Home Depot's face when I said what wanted this for ๐Ÿคฃ) to slightly straighten the sides (hell I didn't have enough top anyway ๐Ÿ™„)

Hey I normally use the strap resetting necks (mostly Gibson ๐Ÿค”). There are few surprises in a Martin neckblock ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ouch, clamps directly onto the spruce!
Yeah, but I had no more wooden clamps, but WOULD have been ok if my sister hadn't turned it over this morning and busted two cracks in the SYCAMORE ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ก. Oh well, I've become pretty adept at fixing those ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

Meanwhile ๐Ÿค”

Crack repaired and last furring strip I own gluing up. Starting the side braces (coffee sticks). The one reason I use these, popsicle sticks and tongue depressors are that the best ones are orange wood. A very fine grained and strong wood in smaller sizes. All my acoustics from the old days had popsicle sticks and as far as I know never split ๐Ÿ˜

And yes the reason so many sycamore cracks? A false assumption of this design, that it wouldn't need bending. Had I bent the pieces and done the building form correctly, I might actually be bored by now lol ๐Ÿคฃ

Lol, 2 hours ago tried cooking Spaghetti Barese alla Assassina, and you know what - of course I didn't read the recipe thinking I remember it well enough. 2 times more passata than required is OK but not ideal LOL

I've thought about this all year ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”. Should I build something I MIGHT can play (my short scale basses for example), a tiple,a tres, a cuatro? Or something familiar but hard to play?
Well familiar won out, for now lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

I've worked in the background on this all year so may as well build it ๐Ÿ™„

A uh guitar ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„. A spruce top (scrap, not my best ๐Ÿ™„) and a sycamore body (from dad's old place, decent)

A body/top plan and the old fashioned Stradivari building mold

I probably should have chosen different but I didn't (don't crap if I go crazy simple next year ๐Ÿคฃ)
Ya can't go simpler than me- I'm not building anything!

Got a few things accomplished ๐Ÿคช. Got my brass bolt cut down and in place (only have one left and it's ALL I've ever used for neck bolts ๐Ÿ˜ฅ).

Sawed the basic mortise then routed the rest ๐Ÿ˜€

Sits to straight now, have to pull sandpaper strips to get my neck angle. May have to wait for the bridge for that. Did a basic sanding and will likely have to piece the back, not wide enough now ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”
