Wow, that is one busy headstock! Did you make this for Squiddly Diddley?
Now to get a little wiring done. I won't drag out the details
I thought it was high time to mock up this bad boy
These pics aren't that great and I'll have to buff her up again after all the finish work on the nut, intonation etc. I still have to see if it needs a shim, oil the fretboard, you name it . I'll take more later guys
Gonna sit back awhile, it's been a busy day guys
Just a 12 string, "Snakehead" style
That's an awesome headstock - beautiful guitar!
That is very clever use of headstock real estate for a 12 string. Kudos!
Beautiful Dave , just beautiful
Thanks very much , now if I just hadn't got the side-tuner holes on the treble side off by 1/16"
Thanks Herb, it's been a long road
Oh no , here we go with the beeswax again
Herb's right. Lindy says that bees wax will darken your tone...... Doesn't seem to darken the screams from the ladies bikini waxing shop around the corner however. Sounds pretty shrill from here. Maybe Lindy should go in there and explain his theory to them....
Seriously, the guitar looks awesome!. If you don't want to do "8 Miles High", how about "Mr. Tambourine Man"? A little gentler on the digits that one is.
Very nice Dave. I think it came together rather well.
Luv the headstock!
I tend to stay away from the "voodoo" threads. You know what they say about voodoo, you have to believe in it for it to work. The best sounding pickups I have in the house are 70s Bill Lawrence humbuckers, wound sideways, using ceramic magnets, and if they're potted with anything it's lacquer . Everything that shouldn't work, does so beautifully . I'm old enough to remember the scientific study that came out when I was a child that roundly declared bumble-bees weren't aerodynamic enough to fly. Being a kid I asked my Dad about it. He assured me that since bumble-bees can't read, they don't know they can't fly and would continue to do so
Thanks Rob,, That I might can swing...............swing.......get it
Thank you very much for sticking with me
Thanks a lot, it was the hardest part of the build. And who says a snakehead can't use Ric style tuners and look good doing it?
That looks amazing, Dave!
When do we get to hear it?
Yeehaa, nice to see it nearly done! Great work as always, my friend!
Looks great, Dave. Can't wait to hear audio clip. You really pulled off that headstock great. The painted pattern looks cool, and man, all that shiny hardware--first thing I though was that it looked like my smile way back in my teens when I got home from the orthodontist the first time--jeez, what a bunch of hardware. That it's all aligned and properly meshed is a testament to your skill! Best of luck on your new job and home situation.
Thanks Josh, your too kind
I have a few loose ends to tie up before it's strung up. Also, since it's a tapered head with this type of tuners, it will be strung a little unconventionally. That no doubt will take some getting used to
Thanks so much Phil , It's always great having you in my corner
Thanks a lot , I can't wait either
Thanks a million, the headstock isn't perfect, but it's close enough . Actually I was going back to my teen years on the chrome theme, we had some righteous hotrods back then, everything chrome but the tires
Bumble bees can't read, I love it
Crazy awsome Love it.
Great job on the headstock. Its great seeing all the different ideas people have.
