I get the tingles every time he comes in with the last verse “Shelter me from the powder and the finger...”.

    Love me some Neil Young.

I LOVE playing a bunch of Neil Young songs ( maybe 25+?) at home just for practice and kicks( curiosity to learn), and this one is in the ' daily mix' just love his simple but strong chord progressions!! ( and they all work on acoustic or electric)
I know Neil is a ' love or hate' guy, but I think he is a songwriting and guitar master.

Our band needs to revisit " Powderfinger" as we have done it in the past with our harmonica player singing
and we did a good job- just forgot about it....
Will text band now, to prep it for gig next week! THANKS!
Edit: Band texted, "Powderfinger" next gig, next week!

It's just another genius Neil Young song.

I tried it in E because I don't have Neil's vocal range but nope...it only sounds good in G to my ears.

The 'turnaround' lick requires the song to be in G with standard tuning to play right.

Really great song, and the solos epitomize NY's idiosyncratic lead playing.
