I picked up a Vintage Club 2110 a few months ago for next to nothing. Made in St. Louis, great tube tone. I am using a 5751 tube to lower the gain a bit.

Is that a preamp tube? Who makes it? Need more info please!

I like my 2110R with the stock tubes just fine for single coils, but its a little too gainy(for the music I play) using humbuckers. I'm fixing to order fresh tubes so if that's an easy swap I might order one of those as a spare.

All new tubes in my 19 yr old St Louis VC2110R.
First tube change ever since new!
Man does this little bugger sound good.
Makes me remember why I own it.
Figuring out how to get into it was tricky, you take the baffle/speaker out to get to the tubes. Easy once I figured it out.

And yes, its a hot runnin thing. But its never failed.

Palomino V32 Head

Just bought a Palomino V32 head off of ebay for 200 bucks. I also bought a TRM 112 speaker cab with a Red Coat Manowar speaker the same day. I couldn't be more pleased with the tone of this amp! My favorite used to be a Peavey Classic 50 410, but the tone of the Crate suits me much better. We'll see if it's a solidly built amp like the Peavey was after a few years, I sure hope so!

Well, I am officially a member of the club. I picked up a used Palomino V8 Two hours ago for $40! Sounds kinda like a Marshall, I dig it!

That sounds like a great score!

I have USA Palomino V16, with an Eminence Texas Heat, a long spring reverb tank, cream chickenhead knobs, a Line Out jack, tube coolers (fins), and a 4" cooling fan. It's a rocking beast, but I don't play through it much anymore. I still have the stock Crate Palomino Celestion Seventy 80.

Crate Palomino V32 for sale locally for $275. Is this a good price?

Thinking of pulling the trigger and buying it as a "keep in the shop" amp so I don't have to lug the VOX AC15C1 out every time I want to jam outside.

I bought a NOS V5 for about $125. The plastic speaker they made this model with explains why it was discontinued. What a horrid POS!

But, new tubes and a Fender/Eminence speaker... And wow! The perfect little low wattage tube amp. Even with the upgrades it was still a bargain.

We post, just sometimes a bit slowly. :D

Check these out. Wonderful info on mods to the Palomino V32 and V series V3112 head's and combo's guts, transformers, tubes, speakers, etc. You'll have to wade through them to get the specific speaker info, but there's a metric TON of useful info in here. Here's a couple to get you started.....

Can confirm. Same here.

Picked up U.S. made V32 a couple weeks ago.

WOW.
Admittedly, only my second tube amp, and bought hot on the heels of the Epiphone Valve Standard I traded for, a week before.

But...wow! What a great amp. Just sounds beautiful even at "basement-wife home" levels.

Can't really add more than has already been said right now, must wanted to join the club.

Congratulations! That's a fine looking example of a great amp!
I think I have an extra OEM Celestian Palomino speaker if you blow one up.
Have fun with it and if you ever decide to sell...let us know here and I am sure you'll be well received.
Cheers!

My first tube head was a V33 with a Soldano mod I bought used... after a year of good use the power section started blowing chips/resistors that the local tech couldn't fix... the amp was a dead dog for years until a tube whizz friend offered to fix it...
He converted it back to transformers using some big old iron and a laptop power supply for heaters.... plus some channel switching mods..that fixed it good and proper...

no room in the cab for the reverb tank now, so we mounted it on the back...:)

An update of sorts.
Since October when I found my Palomino, I have been content bouncing between V32 and Epiphone Valve Standard.
Day before yesterday, a mint V30 was made available by a local gear store. Swapped the Valve Standard+$180 at a pretty big loss for the v3112...Worth it.

Ebony & Ivory...

I still have my Palomino 50 and use it when the gig calls for it. Still running strong. I had a VFX5112 for a spell and with a WGS ET65 it was great. I totally regret selling that one.
