This was posted in our local CL today, in the "Musicians" section. I thought it was kinda cute, and obviously someone else has had mixed results from answering ads. Maybe y'all will enjoy, also.

I am SO grateful that I don’t have to resort to CL for musical interaction/fulfillment.
I’d probably quit if I did.
I’m seasoned, mature, 60 something, want to have fun but will settle for money, have pro gear, and am cooperative/forthcoming.
    Who needs that?

The only reason I was on there was I'm STILL trying to find a good sax player. :(

    Nice try, Big Brother.
I've responded to a few local CL ads from people looking for a plumber, but it turns out none of them have plumbing problems. I don't understand some people.

lol! I have been thinking about trying to find a band to join. Definitely planned on describing myself as rhythm guitarist... so, I suck. The truth hurts!

I’m glad I’m retired. @nojazzhere ’s post is funny and about CL but you have to read between the lines of any job listing, even the internal listings on the HR board in the cafeteria. I’m retired. I’m not looking for a job. I’m not looking for band mates. But I’m always looking for a good laugh.:lol::lol:

Three years ago after picking the guitar back up I decided I wanted to be in a band. Checked the Craigslist ads. Lots of action. Over the course of 2 or 3 months I auditioned for 5 bands. Two were really good and I didn't cut it, two were terrible and I turned them down, one was just right and I'm still with them today. The point is there was a lot of bands, lots of ads. But now the past 6 months I have watching the ads for musicians and there is nothing, nada, not a single serious opportunity there for anyone. Weird. Maybe due to the apocalypse? Who knows....

What makes a good sax player? I dabble in woodwinds, so I need a guitarists perspective :)

Someone the guitar player can be heard over without needing to bring the 1/2 stack.

In my case, I'm looking for one that's fairly versatile and flexible, and can learn from recordings. There have been a couple who could play well in a "band" setting (with charts) but can't play by ear or ad lib. I want to do some songs by Traffic, Men At Work, Springsteen, etc.....plus do songs that DON'T originally have sax, but add that unique "flavor" to them. It's been almost fifty years since I last wrote out brass and woodwind parts, and I don't have the time to get back up to speed. Somewhere, there's gotta be a Chris Wood-esque player who likes that kind of music. (?) ;)
