My latest hair brained idea. Originally it was supposed to be a full LED top but somewhere along the line I decided that I didn't have the patience for that much wiring. Instead I ended up with a cracked mirror top with LED back lighting. The way the body of the guitar is routed allows for me to create new inserts for the top to look different or replace if/when the mirror gets too scratched up.

I'm so boring that I don't care about the esthetics, I just wonder about how that much routing effects the sound of the Tele.

Is the LED system causing issues with noise?

I do have a bit of a grounding issue currently but that's not caused by the LED's. I was pretty excited to get the guitar back together that I forgot to rerun the grounding wire under the bridge. So, while there is a ground noise currently if you aren't grounding it out, it does sound really good still while playing. The Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat is a really articulate pickup and incredibly clear. Switching the lights on makes no interference in the sound. When I take it apart to run the bridge ground wire I still plan on copper shielding the pickup and control cavities.

Good God Almighty, love it man~

Cool build. Do you have any audio samples?

I'm just as curious about the tone, do the bareknuckles sound similar to demo clips you've heard or has the routing + new top affected it enough to hear a difference?

How did you do the cracks in the mirror? Can you feel them? Super cool affect with the lights on, nice work.

No audio clips just yet as I'd like to get the ground issue worked out first.

The cracked mirror idea came when I was working on an infinity mirror insert for this guitar. The inserts are made from different acrylics. I ordered an extra piece of solid mirror to just do the Cracked Mirror top since I've always been a fan on the Paul Stanley Mirror Ball Iceman. Original plan was to actually cut the pieces out and reassemble to give the real look to it. We ended up engraving a small test piece from the back side to remove the mirror material and the effect was so good that we just did that. So, that top is solid and you cannot feel the cracks at all. This is also why you are able to see the lights behind the cracks.

Are the LEDs sound activated RBGs?

Well, kickstart my heart!! Kramer did something like this for Mick Mars back in the eighties, but I think the mirror top wasn't "cracked".
