country tunes with a funk groove

i am looking for not too obscure country and funky tunes. I mean funky country songs. If this makes sense. Jerry reed played some, but i have not titles in mind. Input welcome, thanks.

I'm interested in this too! There's a sweet spot where country and old school R&B/funk meet that I love, but I struggle to come up with examples.

It's interesting because classic country has that strong backbeat, you could really funk up any of them by pushing the 4 beat back an eighth note.

It was perfectly clear. Country music nowadays is not much my cup of tea either.
To quote hank williams, and he knew what he was talking about.
You got to have smelt a lot of mule manure before you can sing like a hillbilly.

I think what's radio-popular in C&W has been pretty bad for many years, but I also think there are tons of artists doing right by the genre in 2023, maybe more than at any time in my life. It just amazes me that song or its singer is classified in any way as "country."

I m not pretty much in the newer stuffs in country and western, and i guess you won't hear the good music on mainstream radio. I think a lot of the newest country artists are too mellow, even among the more underground ones.
