i'll get my 5e3 in about 3-4 weeks (it's going through a powerscaling treatment) but i only need a speaker wich would fit my needs best?

what i'm looking for: mellow highs, thick mids but no overpowered mids, thight fat bass but really not too farty.

i'll mostly be running it with the powerscaling so a speaker wich sounds best at 8-12 will not be good for me

I would go with a Jenson Jet Blackbird. They have really nice clear lows and dont sacrifice any of the highs to get it. It also has a great response and a very pleasing break up to them. I use a pair in my 72 twin reverb and they just sing

To the OP, IMO the high end sparkle if an Alnico at 7-8 will be beneath the compressed smooth goodness and mid flavor generally. Turn it lower or back way off the git Vol, sparkle will surface..

That said, I agree with Red Fang, GB, and -C-bis, The later being warmest, the Red Fang; sparlkieset, GB; mid tweed crunchiest. But this is what my ears hear... YMMV.

C-rex. Come to the dark side, get a free cookie. This speaker made me forget everything I thought I knew about Eminence...

Too lush and woofy, though they do work better at high volume. Try the G12H-30 55Hz, tight but deep bottom end for "low" volume, clear top-end with balanced mids

Speakers, like all other aspects of gear, are very subjective. If you get past eminence prejudice, the C. Rex or Legend 12gb (their greenback) have both been great speakers.

Here is a link to a speaker shootout that may be helpful:

Otherwise, check out warehouse guitar speaker from kentucky who make well regarded clones of top speakers.

    Good luck!
