I'm actually one of those guys who likes plain tops! but I'm not really fussed if it's transparent or opaque (if it's opaque I want it black). I never really liked super flamed or super busy tops, but when I got this one, I thought, I really got lucky on this top and the dark red shade really sets it off nicely.. here's another look under the right angle..

Sometimes you really just want to sit back and be very comfortable... and still play guitar. In comes the "couch guitar". There are some important attributes to the couch guitar, for me anyway. I should be lightweight, nestle very comfortably in your sitting/reclining body position, and have enough resonance to not require being amplified.

With that in mind, I have a few Teles which fit the bill perfectly:

Lastly... my natural finish, maple cap Thinline Tele

Funny thing... all are Thinline bodies! Just works out.

My TDPRI time is limited these days, but I do try to check in, just don't comment or post as often. I just wanted to take a quick look in the Bad Dog Café and then be on my way. I saw this thread title, and the subject interested me, but I figured I'm a week late to the party, so I wasn't going to comment.

Then I saw who posted it, and figured, "He's got some beautiful guitars, and he always takes such fantastic pictures." So you drew me in, @DHart .

Those are both great looking! What model Sigma is that? How do they play?
The model name is LM-SG00+. Solid spruce top, laminated mahogany back and sides, 1-3/4” nut width.
I love this guitar, super comfortable to play. Of sourse, being a L-00 design, it has a 'smaller', mid-focused sound with tight basses.
I have tuned it to open G.

The one on the left is a Duke model A-PF-Solid by Lakewood guitars.
It basically IS a Lakewood but built in China end then finalized (hand cut bone nut and saddle etd.) and set-up in Germany by Lakewood.
It is flawless.
Despite the small body it produces a full, bold sound thanks to the 12th fret body joint. The 46 mm nut with makes it the perfect fingerstyle guitar.

So yeah, looking at the direction my amp is set-up I can't even pretend any guitar I owned wasn't a couch guitar lol.

I'm not even going to pretend weight wasn't of EXTREME importance in choosing my guitar. It is 6 pounds and 11 ounces. It is heaven! Besides having had 11 knee surgeries, i was hit by a car last year while driving my Vespa. Nothing catastrophic injury wise, but whole lotta bulging and herniated discs in my neck. Okay, i do admit to standing while playing in front of my dog, all trying to impress him like an 80's guitar god when i have lots of gain going. He gives me a "wtf?" side eye, yawns, and goes to sleep 😔. When this happens I'm generally medicated off my ass, so it's actually always funny to me! He hates when i play on the couch more though. If I'm sitting on the couch he kind of feels entitled to my lap and pets. He gets very jealous of my Tele on my lap getting petted (playing strings, he doesn't know the difference).

Man… that Cab in that white leather chair… that chair, consequently, almost looks like in an R.V.? Or a tour bus?
