A friend of mine retired a few years ago. After about 6 months, I saw him walking by my office. I told him I thought he had retired. He said he did, but he flunked retirement. His wife caught him alphabetizing the pantry and told him he had to go back to work.

You’ll do just fine... helluva nice toaster you got there. I say and keep it stock.

Rub some unsalted butter on the burns.

It might not accelerate healing, but it smells like bacon, so you have that going for you.

    My suggestion:
If you carefully adjust the windings you will get more even results from your toaster.
Then a John Backlund graphic design refinish and your good to go.

Last tip: (for certain, last tip! Unless I think of another...)
Black cords dont show the funky spots as much.
You need a black cord for sure!

(Edited and still mis-spelled I reckon)

My last day on the job will be December 30. I’m burning through 23 days of vacation that I can’t cash out. I’m calling this retirement practice. Gotta practice every day or you’ll never be ready for the gig, right?

I’ve been walking the dog a lot and trying to train my wife not to yell. I tell her yelling doesn’t make you right. It just makes you loud. She just yells louder.

I am beginning to think retiring isnt such a good plan.
I fear my wife is gonna work me to death.
The golf course looks like a better option all the time.

I retired 2 1/2 years ago and my simple retirement philosophy is... Do something each and everyday BUT, you ain't got to do it all day!

    Heathen.

My toaster looks legitimately worn out through years of extensive toasting, why would I want it to be artificially aged?

All that bad scuffing on the case, the really obviously fake tarnishing of the chrome parts, heavy-handed attacks with a 3-prong fork (when it HAS to be a 2-prong...) IMHO a heavy relic job makes a perfectly good toaster look rubbish.

What next - new jeans with holes already in them? Get off my lawn...

Seriously, I have 3 years and 5 months to go before retirement...not that I'm counting or anything.

Enjoy your retirement! I was off work for a few months recovering from knee replacement I got while I still have good insurance. Disregarding the pain and physical therapy, I like not having to live my by someone else's schedule. Five months to go, and I'll be retired. Give it time and you'll find you have plenty to do.

    I'm with you on this.
Your toaster looks clean and sparkly: Thought you might like a short cut, and perhaps to save some money.

I prefer genuine aged ... like mine.

The only ambition I ever had was to be retired. I achieved that in 2013, and I gotta say, it's way better than not being retired. After almost 8 years, I'm getting pretty good at it. Who knew napping was a skill?

    No, it's the genuine article.

It's becoming harder and harder to tell with the recent relic'd toasters looking like the real thing.

I'm less than 3 years from retirement and I have been practicing this every time I spend a week at the cottage. I have a job to do every day. I usually pick away at it between 10am and 3pm. Just putter around. Before 10 I will read for a while, listen to some music and play my guitar a bit. After 3 I have a shower and a nap. Then after dinner I read some more and enjoy a single malt next to the woodstove. I think I'm actually getting pretty good at it. In fact I might even try and qualify for the Retirement Olympics.

Almost 2 years into retirement for me and I don’t miss work one bit. I’m catching up with years of projects and health issues are time consuming. I keep in touch with a few friends but that’s it. I would keep that toaster bone stock if it were mine.

Did some mini projects..but, this is really weird. Been working my whole life.
I think I may attack the band room. It hasn't had people in there since March. duh
My wife works , so it is just me and the cats.
