    Hi guys,

I am looking for a Tele control plate with one hole next to the switch. The idea is to have one knob next to the switch and to then flip the plate so that there is more space for my picking hand to flair out when playing and so my fingers don't hit either a knob or a switch.

Does anyone know where I can find a Tele control plate with one hole for a knob [instead of 2] with a switch in the UK?

GFS has blank control plates, just drill the holes where you want to.

Unfortunately I live in a small inner-city flat, so this is not an option at all.

You could look at axesrus & all parts UK sites. Probably your best chance in UK

Surely you must know someone who could drill one hole in it for you

Not a lot of machine shops on Venus, or so I hear.

+1 on rockrabbit. I ended up making my own from GFS blank

These two places can easily make you what you want. It shouldn't be expensive at all because a blank (undrilled) plate is a few pounds.

Give 'em a call, let 'em know what you need, and they should be able to bang one out in a day or two. Have your requirements written down, e.g., "8mm diameter hole for a single control pot centered 40mm from one end of the plate, with no switch slot or other holes," etc., because they will ask for specifics.

I've done similar stuff on my own builds. This one has a volume and a tone. No switch because only one pickup:

Ugh how dare you not “work the tone,” you must be a horrible guitarist!

anyway, I live in a small flat as well. If you can do it in the daytime with a cheap cordless drill and a stepper bit, you should be able to get away with it. You just have to clamp it to your desk or something. Or maybe do it outside by the garbage bins.

A really simple way to hold a blank plate (they already have the little screw hole on each end) is to use those screws to affix it directly to a scrap of wood about a foot long. Drill through the plate and into the wood.

I am in the UK, I build a lot of Teles, I always buy blank control plates in chrome and drill myself, listen, if you want one I will sort it for you and drill it where you require it, ping me a message and maybe we can sort something.
