continuity ground error on push-pull pot?

I may have a problem wiring a push-pull pot. Is there any situation where I would get continuity between any of the lugs on a CTS push-pull pot? I got all my controls wired up and started checking continuity. Starting at the switch, I got continuity between the ground and one of the selector lugs. Oops! Tracing that back, the problem was at the push-pull pot. Taking the lead out, the center & ground lugs of the p/p still have continuity, but not the second p/p. I took the pot out, disconnected most of it, and it tested clean - I didn't ruin the pot, no continuity between lugs. Started putting it back together, and the problem came back. Did I mess something up somewhere? I haven't even connected the pickups yet, just the pots, grounds, & switch.

I think we'd probably need some photos and a wiring diagram to diagnose it. But if the switch tests properly with everything disconnected, and it doesn't with it connected, you either shorted a connection or something is wrong in your wiring plan.

Dunno - there are a few different types of P/P pots. When the P/P pot is tested (and the pot properly grounded), couldn't the continuity of the terminals change between the up and down position? Does it play OK?
